Produce Wash

Apr 16, 2015

IMG_6721Pesticides, chemicals, germs and bacteria can be present on our fruits and veggies so thats why its a MUST to give them a good wash before consuming.

To keep things simple in my house all of my produce gets washed and soaked before it gets put away.  In the time it takes me to unpack all of the groceries, fly around the kitchen and do a happy dance to entertain the baby, my food has soaked and is good to go!  Gone are the nasties and now we’re free to  enjoy fruit and vegetables as they are supposed to be enjoyed – fresh and clean!

Start simple-

Fill your sink or tub with 3 parts water and 1 part Apple cider vinegar

4T  Baking soda

5 drops of Doterra Lemon Essential Oils

Swish around and let soak for 15min or so.  Not a problem it they stay in longer, as life sometimes gets in the way 😉

The vinegar and baking soda will help to kill bacteria and remove residue and wax from the produce but the key ingredient is the lemon essential oil.

I use and trust Doterra Lemon essential oil on my food because it is Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade which is important to me.  Not only does it have a fresh, clean scent, but it is also anti-septic, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, and antiviral. Say bye-bye to bacteria and hello to sparkling fresh food.  An added bonus: Properly washing and storing your fruits and veggies will help keep them fresher longer.

Enjoy!
