Natures Energy Drink

Apr 26, 2015

Being up with the Little a few times a night, this momma is looking for a quick pick me up by 3pm but you won’t find me opting for sugar loaded, chemical or caffeine fix that will only give a short dose of energy.

Instead of stressing the ol’ adrenal glands and contributing to series of other health problems I choose (if you haven’t already guessed) a more natural alternative; natures energy drink.

So put down that coffee or Red Bull and give your body something that will have you powering through your day without an energy crash!

Green Machine

Oxygenate your blood with green vegetables that are rich in chlorophyll, vitamins and minerals.  This will increase your energy and make your brain sharper.photo 2-3

Blend 1/2 cucumber, 1 celery stalk, 1/2 pear, 1c spinach/ romaine lettuce,  1/2 green apple, 1T parsley, 1T  Green super foods powder (I use a combo of spirulina, chlorella, barley grass, & alfalfa), 1/2 frozen banana, 1/2 green apple, 1t goji berries, a piece of frozen pineapple, 1t chia seeds, 1/2 avocado,  slice of ginger, a bit of mint, juice of ½ a lemon and 2c filtered water. (now tell me thats not a meal!)

Coco-Hydra  Smoothie

(the closest thing I can get to a Pina Colada)

Coconut water and bananas contain high amounts of potassium to help regulate and maintain healthy cells and their natural production of energy.

Blend coconut water, coconut flesh (scrapped out from the inside of the coconut), ½ a frozen banana, mango, pineapple, a dash of pea protein and a squeeze of lime.

Don’t stress about the combination of your smoothies.  Have fun and experiment with whatever takes your fancy.  I seem to never make the same smoothie twice, it’s whatever is in my fridge, freezer, pantry or garden  😉

Bottoms UP!
